Tēnā koutou,

As a valued member of our Expo 2020 whānau, we understand you will have questions about Expo 2020 Dubai given the uncertain global situation brought on by COVID-19.

At this stage, Expo 2020 Dubai is on track for an October start. We are in regular contact with the Expo 2020 organisers who, like all of us, are working hard to adjust and adapt to unfolding events of this COVID-19 pandemic.

This week, the Expo 2020 Steering Committee of Commissioners-General will meet via video link to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on International Participants’ plans for Expo 2020.

In mid-April, the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Executive Committee will meet. Expo 2020 has signalled this as an important milestone in decision-making, when we hope the global situation will be clearer.

My team continues to be focused on delivering a memorable Expo 2020 experience for New Zealand. We are also focused on the wellbeing of our team and that of our partners.

We continue to live by our Expo 2020 theme – Care for People and Place and I encourage you all to look out for each other as together we navigate these challenging times.

We will be sure to keep you updated as decisions are taken. Please do not hesitate to contact me or the team if you have any specific questions, concerns or suggestions.

And of course you can keep up to date with the latest from the team here in Dubai by following us on social media – @nzatexpo.

Clayton Kimpton
