Peter Dong, Founder & CEO, ByteEd

Peter leads ByteEd, a New Zealand–founded EdTech company best known for Play Code Learn (PCL)—a computational-thinking course that includes hands-on Dino kits and AR/AI digital learning for early primary (Year 0–3). After strong traction in Aotearoa New Zealand, Peter is expanding PCL across the UAE and pushing into Saudi Arabia and Qatar, engaging leading groups such as Taaleem and GEMS. Notably, PCL has been adopted by the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) as a core resource in a new Computational Thinking course for trainee teachers across all six colleges, with implementation support originating from connections made at the New Zealand Pavilion at Dubai World Expo (2022). PCL has also been nominated for the GESS Dubai Awards.

Peter co-developed Play Code Learn with a Prime Minister’s Award–winning educator, creating a peer-reviewed teaching kit that measurably lifts computational-thinking mastery in Year 0–3 and is now in 50+ schools globally, reaching thousands of learners. Computational thinking is a vital way to think and apply knowledge in the age of AI, and PCL is designed to make these habits accessible and joyful for young learners.
