Exporter MIQ Allocation for February 2022

In light of Tuesday's announcement from the New Zealand Government in response to Omicron, where MIQ stays have been lengthened and changes have been made to the re-opening plan, New Zealand Trade & Enterprise (NZTE) has reminded the New Zealand Middle East Business Council (NZMEBC) that Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) spaces are available for exporters through the Exporter MIQ Allocation Program.

Applications for limited February spaces are live on the Exporter MIQ Allocation website, where exporters can access the application form. This will close at 10am NZDT on Friday, 7 January 2022. Applications will need to meet an initial eligibility assessment based on the information provided in the application form. NZTE will run a ballot to award spaces.

Future Allocations Uncertain

Unfortunately NZTE advises that there is no ability to allocate further MIQ places for January at this stage. It is also too early to gauge if there will be any need for MIQ places in March. However, NZTE do have the ability to allocate places for March in case this becomes a necessity. If these are required, then applications for the March spaces would open in early to mid-January 2022.
