Invitation to AGM, Tuesday 28 August, 5.30 PM, EY, Level 9, Takutai Sq, Britomart, Auckland

ll members of the NZMEBC are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting at 5.30 pm on Tuesday 28 August. The AGM is again generously hosted by EY at their Auckland offices, at Level 9, Takutai Square, Britomart.

This year we are fortunate to have as a guest speaker Malcolm Millar, Executive Director of G2G Know-how, a joint venture between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NZ Trade & Enterprise. G2G works through New Zealand’s diplomatic networks abroad to partner with other governments to identify their specific needs. From here, G2G works with foreign governments to draw on NZ’s world leading state sector expertise to provide bespoke solutions to their needs. Malcolm’s career has been focused in the foreign affairs space, where amongst other things he has served as Ambassador to Abu Dhabi.

We are delighted to announce also that the Ambassador from Kuwait, H.E  Mr. Ahmad Alwehaib, has accepted the invitation of NZMEBC Chairman Mr Stewart Germann to attend the AGM.


Nominations are formally invited for the position of Executive Committee member. This year we have four Executive Committee members retiring by rotation, and while they are all standing again, any financial member of NZMEBC is also welcome to nominate.

Only financial members can attend and vote at the AGM.

Invitation to Business Lunch with UAE Minister of Climate Change & Environment, His Excellency Dr Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Wednesday, 15 August

A special invitation to NZMEBC members has been issued by UAE Ambassador,  HE Saleh Ahmed Al Suwaidi to a Business Lunch with His Excellency Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment for the United Arab Emirates.

Dr Thani is visiting New Zealand  to meet representatives of businesses involved in the climate change, renewable energy and agricultural sectors.

The Ambassador is hosting lunch at the Northern Club to provide the Minister with the opportunity to discuss these issues with invited guests.

Previously, His Excellency Dr Thani served as a Permanent Representative of the UAE to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) from 2010 to 2017. He was also the Director of the Department of Energy and Climate Change within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2010 to 2016.

As a Project Engineer at Masdar, the Minister worked to advance renewable energy technologies and solutions and played an instrumental role in the UAE’s successful 2009 bid to host IRENA, the first international organization dedicated to renewable energy.

He heads the UAE Council for Climate Change and Environment, the National Committee of Biosecurity, and the Emirates Committee for Sustainable Environment Research. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), the Board of Trustees of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, the Audit and Selection Committees of the Zayed Sustainability Prize and the Board of Directors of the Global Green Growth Institute.

His Excellency Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi holds a PhD in Project and Program Management from SKEMA Business School in France, an MBA from the New York Institute of Technology in the US, an MSc in Project Management from the British University in Dubai and a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa in the US. In 2015, His Excellency Dr Al Zeyoudi received the first Gulf Cooperation Council Excellence Award in recognition of his pioneering efforts in renewable energy.



Invitation to meet with Dubai 2020 Commissioner-General, Clayton Kimpton, 13 August, 11.00 AM

All members are invited to meet with New Zealand’s Commissioner-General for Dubai 2020, Clayton Kimpton, on Monday 13 August, 11.00 AM, at the offices of NZTE, Level 6, 139 Quay St. 

This will be a great opportunity for members to receive an update on progress with the NZ Pavilion at Dubai 2020 and to ask questions in relation to the recent rfp that was issued for service providers to the NZ Pavilion.

JOB OPENING – NZTE Trade and Commercial Advisor, Saudi Arabia

NZTE is seeking a new Riyadh based Trade & Commercial Advisor to help NZ businesses to grow and thrive in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and also Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait. 

Based in the New Zealand Embassy in Riyadh this role offers exposure to a range of businesses, so will suit an adaptable generalist with a background in business development and maximising collaboration opportunities with strategic partners.

Proven experience in the Specialised Manufacturing and/or Building and Construction sectors is desirable, although not essential.
